I have posted an advertisement of cooler in the amount of 9000. I got a call from 7466880483. He said he is an army person. DeL was finalized in the amount of 6500. He said his son will come in the morning and will pick the cooler. He said he will do phone pay. But after that said that he is transferring through sewing machine as he is using swing machines for any transfer. He shared a code of 2000 and asked to transfer the amount so that amounts including his amount can be transferred to my account. I transferred him 6000 afterwards he said transaction is still pending and asked to share the amount again so that amounts can be transferred. He also asked to remove the upi ids from Paytm a d asked for the otp. When I declined he said not to call again. His profile is also deactivated from olx. I also shared his id card and a colleague picture. Which I have. He is calling again and again asking for the paytm OTP. Please help me in getting my money back.

This is a very common scam. The scammer will contact you telling you that they want to buy the thing you are selling. In most cases they won’t negotiate at all. And will want to send an advance payment as quickly as possible.

After that they will send you a QR code telling you that it will credit money into your account. You have to remember that to get money you never need to enter your UPI Pin.

You can read more about this here https://cyberforensics.miniorange.com/upi-fraud/.

I would recommend registering a complaint with the cyber crime cell through https://www.cybercrime.gov.in/Webform/crmcondi.aspx .

    Or contacting OLX through safety@olx.in.
